Young boy dies at beach after a supposed Shark Attack

10-year-old Alex B. Kintner died while swimming in the ocean around 2 p.m. today when suddenly it appears he was attacked by a shark. His body has not been recovered but the water was bloody and his raft had a large bite out of it.

Police Chief, Micheal Brody was at the beach when the attack occurred and according to witnesses’ including the chief, Kintner “had been floating on a rubber raft at the crowded Village Beach when an unprovoked vicious shark attack appears to have occurred.”

A sense of panic and fear kicked in once people realized what was happening. Children ran out of the water as parents flocked to make sure everyone was all-right. Brody’s wife recalls her husband as being jumpy and nervous before the attacks happened but she felt that the clear skies and calm water was safe for her children to swim in.

Beach goers seemed quite relaxed before the attack amid speculations of a shark attack happening less than 24 hours. Christine Watson was the victim of an unknown attack last night in what appears to police now as a possible shark attack. Town officials are now saying that “We now believe that it may be possible that the Watson death could also maybe have been linked to possible shark activities in the vicinity of Amity. That investigation is ongoing.”

Brody released a statement an hour after the accident saying, “I join Amity Mayor Bob Farley in expressing the town’s deepest and most sincere condolences to the Kintner family.”

A special meeting will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Town Hall with the mayor, police Chief Martin Brody, and the Amity Board of Selectmen. The topics to be discussed are Chief’s Brody’s plan to close the beaches on July 4^th, the Kintner family reward of $3,000 for capture of the perpetrator and the offer by grizzled old fisherman Ben Quint to hunt down the shark thought to be the vile perpetrator of this tragic incident.

Alex’s mother, Marion Kintner was at the beach when her son was attacked and witnessed the event. She is being treated for shock at Amity General Hospital, where she is in fair condition and expected to be ok. Brody said that there were no other injuries.

Beaches Remain Open for Swimming Pending the Outcome of an Investigation into Young Girls Death.

Police received a report that a young girl had gone missing after going for a later night swim at South Beach Sunday night. Police later found the girl’s body washed up on the shore mangled, leaving police wondering what happened.

Police Chief Martin Brody says Amity residents and visitors are in no danger even though they are unaware of how the young girl died. Brody announced, “Though a shark attack had not be completely ruled out, we want to assure all residents and visitors on our fine island that they are in no danger.”

Christine W. Watson of Amity was last seen alive leaving a beach party with another teen identified as Christopher P. Hoggenbottam III, former resident of Amity. Witness said the two, who were heavily intoxicated and also may have been under the influence of drugs, decided to go for a late night swim entering the water at a remote section of the South Beach near the South Beach Shoal bell buoy.

Hoggenbottam notified police around 6 a.m. when Watson did not return. Police searched the beach and found Watson’s mangled body. Police reports stated that the body “had been severely mauled by an attacker of unknown origin.” The body has been transported to the coroner’s office for autopsy.

Watson, a senior at Amity high school was an experienced swimmer was a member of the varsity swim team and was also a lifeguard at the local YMCA. The weather on that night was clear and the seas were calm with the wind coming from the south at 3 knots.

As of press time, no charges have been filed. Police were continuing their investigation into the incident. The beaches will remain open for swimming pending the outcome of the investigation.

This letter and related resume is in response to the open position of Manager, Synchronized Skating with U.S. Figure Skating. I am a successful National Medalist in synchronized skating. I have competed in USFS sanctioned local, Sectional and National competitions. I am a former member of Team USA, where I was honored to represent the U.S. as a member of Hayden’s Junior Lexettes team.

My college education has been focused on sports management and my career goal is to work within a sports organization or sports media. I believe my education, work experiences, competitive experiences, knowledge of USFS and familiarity with ISU competitions and the IJS Judging system provide me with a solid background to make immediate contributions in this role with USFS.

As you will see on my enclosed resume, my degree concentration is within Sports Studies with a minor in English Journalism from the University of New Hampshire. Although I will not attain my degree until this coming May, the USFS position is such a strong fit to my background, education and longer term goals, that I have decided to pursue this position. I have already consulted with my UNH advisors about completing the few remaining courses after the current semester. Through a combination of online studies and course work in Colorado Springs, I believe there is the potential to complete this small amount of course work at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, which has a major in sports management.

For the last two years, I have been an intern with the UNH Athletics media and public relations office where I have learned valuable skills in sports organization management, media, communications and planning. My knowledge of skating and commitment to the team concept both on and off-ice has earned me a leadership role on the UNH synchronized team and within my work. In both roles I was able to work with others as a team while learning how to independently finish tasks given to me. My professional approach enabled UNH to assign me various roles of heightened responsibilities such as working with pro scouts, game officials, team coaches and liaison with the press and media including the NCAA, Gillette Stadium Media and Comcast media. I know I can apply the same effort to make strong contributions in the Manager role with USFS.
